We have lunch at a small Chinese buffet restaurant. We are
disappointed at the food. It was barely warm.
Saturday October 17, 2015
WOW! We had a cold night last night, +2°C. We even have
frost on the car this morning!!!
We hit +8°C today!
Here I am with the neighbours.
Before we leave for some geocaching, I burn some papers with personal
information on them. You have to be careful about identity theft.
We are back on the Friendship Trail, but this time we are walking west.
Ahhh!
The two cachers!
There was a breeze and the sun did come out a few times. We found
13 caches and one DNF (Did Not Find).
We also walked a good 7 km.
Sunday October 18, 2015
Brrrr! An other cold night, for us...
I spend the morning working on the next update of our blog.
Most of the afternoon is for the re-arrangement of some cupboards.
We move some of the small appliances under the bed.
Why?
Well, some of those small appliances were way in the back of this
cupboard and they were a lot of work to get at them.
We also moved some of the stuff from under the bad to the back of the
cupboard.
Those moves are giving us more room in a few cupboards.
When you move into a new RV, you usually always have to move stuff
around a few times to find the best place for your stuff. It is
normal.
Another thing we did this afternoon, we connected an HDMI cable to the
back of the TV. This way we can connect our laptop to the TV.
It may sounds like it is easy, but remember, the TV is screwed to the
wall in the back.
We have many movies and TV series on external hard drive and the only
way we can watch them is through the laptop.
Remember Monday? I was reading outside in short
pants!!! Today I would need a parka and mittens.
Monday October 19, 2015
We are back on the Friendship Trail again this afternoon.
We found 9 caches and 3 caches we could not find!
We walked 5.5 kilometers today.
Michele got cold and she is warming up as best as she can. It is
20°C inside!
It is election day here in Canada. I spend a big part of the
evening listening to the results.
The Liberals won with a majority.
Tuesday October 20, 2015
No rain today, off we go to the local corn maze.
Pumpkins in trees! Is it a pumpkin tree?
Michele getting ready to start the maze.
It is pretty hard to get lost here.
This is not a cooked corn on the cub.
Even the garbage cans are pumpkins related.
Since we are close to Lowes, we decide to stop there and get some more
of those plastic corners.
Back home I install the plastic corners and I am still short one!!!
Wednesday October 21, 2015
I got an email telling me a parcel has arrived at the Ridgeway post
office. While I have to get there to pick it up, I also stop at
the local restaurant for breakfast. It was very good and it was a
big breakfast.
The parcel I am picking up is from Jeremy. If you remember we
went to Walmart in Moose Jaw to get our picture taken. They are
in the parcel. Benoit could not be with us, so we took a photo of
Benoit with us for the family photo!
Here it is!
I do not know why, but with this cooler weather our laundry basket
fills up rather quickly!
After a couple of hours at the laundromat, we have clean clothes again.
Thursday October 22, 2015
What is the matter with the weather? Now it is +20°C.
The wind is not too strong so I go for a walk at the beach.
Tuesday I had called our health insurance to get the exemption to get
my prescriptions filled for 6 months. I always call way ahead of
November 1st because for some reason it always get screwed up once, if
not twice.
Off to Port Colborne to get my "winter" prescriptions.
At the pharmacy I have to explain (again) why I ask for my prescription
here and not in Trenton. I tell them that yes my insurance
provider will pay for the 6 months prescription. Of course it
does not work!!! I call right away my insurance provider and they
tell me it should. Back in the pharmacy, surprise? It works
this time!!!!
I am not even upset at this because it is the same very year.
With our "order" in at the pharmacy, we go back on the Friendship Trail
to finish looking for the caches on this trail..
We have found 9 caches and one we could not find.
Those last caches makes it a total of 101 caches to be found on the
Friendship Trail.
We have found 90 of them, 11 we did not find either because of Poison
Ivy, too much water or we could not find them...
We now have a total of 1200 caches found.
Friday October 23, 2015
Not much going on today. In the afternoon, I went back caches
hunting and got 5 caches, two of them were caches we did not find on
the Friendship Trail the first time around.
Saturday October 24, 2015
Another gray day! We did some shopping at the local rummage sale.
A light rain starts to fall in the afternoon. The temperature stays
around +10°C. We do some reading and watch some TV.
Sunday October 25, 2015
It is about time I clean the inside of the car. It really needs
it.
I also put the bikes in the back of the car because it is the best
place for them when we travel long distance.
I am hard at work cooking hamburger and reading the news on my I-Pod.
Next Sunday we will be somewhere in the United States.
We can not wait to get going!
Monday October 26, 2015
What is going on?
White stuff on the car!!!
It does not matter how big your RV is, sometimes the walls are just
getting closer.
Out we go and start our search for geocaches. Fall is nice with
all the colours.
We are searching for caches with the car. One of the caches is
located in a small park.
Hummm! Poison Ivy, I will have to be careful.
The sun is even peeking a few times during the day.
My beautiful Michele!
One of the caches is located in a very small cemetery. It is the
Benner family cemetery.
There are only 8 peoples total buried here and two of them are not from
the Benner family.
Two members of the Benner family fought in the 1812 war.
I think it is nice to honour our veterans, past and present.
We found five caches today and we discovered new places.
Tuesday October 27, 2015
I think this is going to be our last nice day until we leave.
A "big" storm is coming our way. It should arrive overnight and
pack lots of rain and strong winds. It is the left over from the
storm Patricia.
With the bad weather coming up, we decide to treat ourselves with a
lunch
at the Mandarin. The Mandarin is a chain of Chinese Buffet
restaurants. The Mandarin here in Niagara Falls is the best we
have been so far. The food was excellent and the service was
above excellent. Many business/restaurants should come here and
learn a thing of two about service to the customers.
While we are in Niagara Falls, we bought a drop hitch from an RV dealer.
It should be here by Thursday. You will know what it is when I
install it on the MH.
With our belly full, we stop at the Falls.
We look at the falls for about 45 minutes and head back home.
On our way back to the MH, we saw this sundog.
It is a small one, but still weird to look at.
Once we are back home, I continue to put stuff away in preparation for
our trip south, but because of the storm winds forecasts for tonight
and tomorrow.
Wednesday October 28, 2015
The rain started at about 3 am and did not stop until about 9 pm.
We spend the day reading.
We skyped with Jeremy and Gabriel after dinner.
Michele finally closed the two main slides at 3 am. The wind
gusts
are at 100 km/h here near Lake Erie.
Thursday October 29, 2015
By six o'clock, we had to close the bedroom slide. The MH is
moving and shaking because of the strong wind gusts.
While I was having breakfast, I watched a "tarp" shed rolling by!
I take a close look at what is up-wind from us to make sure nothing can
come loose from other sites and come barrelling down at the MH.
I am at the pharmacy at 8 am to finally pick-up my "holiday"
prescriptions.
Before I get to the MH, I decide to check out the waves on Lake Erie.
The right arrow shows where the water usually is.
The left arrow shows where the water goes to today.
Look at the concrete block, it was covered with water a few times while
I watched.
That is one good storm surge.
Some of the waves I saw this morning.
The RV place called and the drop hitch has arrived. We are on our way
to Niagara Falls.
The fields are flooded form all the rain we got.
Here, we are at Niagara RV & Trailer center to pick up our drop
hitch.
We also do our last, very small, grocery because we always try to cross
the American border with no fruit, veggies. We usually have a
pretty empty fridge by that time.
I usually comment about people who keep their PJ pants on all day and
go outside!
Michele got me going to the dumpster!
To my defence, there is no one at the campground right now!!!
Thanks Michele for the photo :-)
The wind is still blowing strong and we keep the slides closed all day.
Friday October 30, 2015
When I get up there is no wind!
I put the slides out, darn it is big with the slides out.
After a good breakfast, I change the drop hitch on the MH.
The drop hitch is the part the arrow is pointing.
Why change it?
The tow bar between the car and the MH has to be as horizontal as
possible to be safe.
With the old drop hitch, it was at too much of and angle.
The old and the new drop hitch.
The drop hitch in place on the MH.
Here it is! It only took 15 minutes and everything is done.
We are ready for the road.
The cupboards, under the counter, are pretty dark in the back.
The
arrows indicate where I put two new lights to help see the back of the
cupboard.
We spend a little over an hour at the Laundromat to catch up on the
last laundry before we cross the border on Sunday.
We are getting anxious to leave this cool/cold weather.
Saturday October 31, 2015
When I woke up, I saw some frost on the car AND the grass!!!
What's up with that?
We really have to leave this cold weather. We only have one more
sleep before we go south.
Michele finishes some of the preparations in the MH. I clean the
windshield and the side windows.
I also hooked up the car to the MH. We are almost ready to leave!
We cannot wait to leave behind this gray and cool/cold weather behind
us!
