Sunny day with a +16, we go and visit Old Fort Erie.
Across the Niagara river, we can see the city of Buffalo in New York
State.
We were pretty lucky and got a guided tour all to ourselves. A
good thing because we would not have known much of the history behind
this fort. In 1812, Fort Erie played a big part in Canada and the
United States. In 1812 the United States declared war to the
British and the Canadian Militia. The war lasted 2 years and cost
over 1,000 lives.
The Treaty of Ghent was signed December 24, 1814, ending the War of
1812-1814.
Visit the official website Visit 1812
for updates on this important milestone shared by Canada and the United
States of America.

October
2 to the 6, 2010
We have not done much these past few days, mostly because of the rain
and boy, did it rained. It is still raining.
So we did some shopping, reading, watch movies, etc, etc.
The Niagara peninsula is full of secondary roads. Many are like
this one, very beautiful.
Soup time!
Lake Erie, calm between rain showers.
Another of the cool "Golf Cart".
When we booked our second week here, we had to move because ours
was reserved for the Thanksgiving long weekend. Nice site, but
the reception for internet is not very good. I talked to the
personnel and I was told that because of the rain and general bad
weather the WIFI is not very good.
Our new home.
I will put up our internet antenna since we pay for it anyway.

Hurray! The sun is finally back!
With all the rain and humidity we've had, we found some mildew growing
at the bottom of the windows.
We got the cleaning supplies out and went on to fix this problem.
Everything is nice and clean now.
I am trying to get the satellite internet working because the
campground internet is not very stable.
But I could not find the satellite.
I started last evening and gave up. Again today and I gave up!
I phoned the support for the satellite dish and found out that Hugues
Internet had made changes without telling anybody!
After I got the new setting, I had no problem finding the satellite and
the internet is
now working
Talk about customer bad service!

Ever since we started our trip, we have seen lots of old cars on the
road.
Especially in Ontario.
Me and Michèle took a little bike ride around the resort.
It is big !
There is an old quarry in the resort. It is now filled with clean water.
I has a beach and you can rent paddle boats.
Most of the resort is for those small mobile homes.
We could not believe it, a pink palm tree !
Today we had some very strong wind coming from the lake.
Some people took this opportunity to do a little kit-surfing.
Someone told us that to rent a lot by the lake, it costs about
$15,000.00 per year !
A very nice place !
Saturday and Sunday October 9 and 10, 2010
I went for a little bike ride
today. All the way to Ridgeway and back, about 20 km on the old railway
track.
It is now paved and very nice.
Friday we got to meet our
neighbor, Geoffrey and Suzanne.
They invited us to participate in a potluck supper Saturday to
celebrate Thanksgiving.
WOW! So much food and good company on top of that.
Thanks Geoffrey, Suzanne and the rest of the gang.
Another part of the beach.

The weatherman is calling for rain today.
We did not want to stay in the motorhome today, so we drove the Wine
Road or at least part of it.
Even if the Niagara area is pretty flat, there are a few tunnels.
It goes underneath the Welland Canal. Boats actually float above
you. Neat!
We stopped at only 2 winery in our travel and this one was by far the
best.
Very nice people working there.
Very good wine so we made some purchases...
Now this is a wildlife crossing sign, deer, rabbit, duck and a fox?
These grapes will be used to make ice wine once they freeze a few times.
On our way back to the resort, we took the Niagara Parkway between Lake
Ontario and Lake Erie.
The Parkway follows the Niagara river. What a gorgeous drive.
We are just a few kilometers below the falls and on the right of the
river, it is the USA.
The Niagara river from different points of view.
Just as we got to the Falls, a thunder storm hit.
No stopping at the falls today.
A very good day even if we had a few rain showers along the way.

Niagara-On-The-Lake has a reputation to be the pretties town in Canada.
To really enjoy Niagara-On-The-Lake you have to walk the old town,
Byron
Street.
Very nice 19th century architecture.
Niagara-On-The-Lake played a very important role during the 1812 war
with the
United States.
A very pretty town with lots of trees and flowers.
This town is worth a visit...

The past few days have been very quiet. Just some reading and day
to
day stuff.
The weather is very nice and sunny, at least until late afternoon when
the clouds moved in, but no rain.
We decide to go and see the Falls with all the lights.
We started with an IMAX movie.
This is the first time we were disappointed in an IMAX movie.
The night is very clear, but a little chilly.
Very pretty, not to be missed.
