Getting ready for our tour of the Lamaque mine.
We are in the "Dry house" where the miners would hang their working
clothes.
This picture is for our son Benoit..
Our guide did a good job during the tour inside the mine.
The first part of the tour last on hour and forty five minutes.
Most of
it is inside the mine at a depth of 100 meter.
The mine goes 1,200 meter down and it has more then 25 km of tunnels.
Lots of displays.
The glove in the rubbles was a way for the miners to play a joke on the
new miners...
The storage building with both mine shaft, number 6 and 7.
The second half of the tour was all building situated above ground.
That was ok, but no more than that.
If you have a limited time at the Lamaque mine, do only the mine tour
and
skip the above ground tour.
After supper we took a stroll in the historical miners village of
Bourlamaque.
All the houses in the village were built by the mining company for
the miners. Notice the miner climbing the ladder?
Again, we had rain later on the evening.
Tomorrow we are moving to Mont Laurier for one night.
Tuesday
August 17, 2010
On our way to Mont Laurier, this is the first time we hit some rain
with
the motorhome, but then again, not much rain.
We had hoped to see more wildlife than this but hey, a deer is a deer.
We've decided to stay the night in Mont Laurier.
Very
nice campground, but a little too close to the highway 117.
Wednesday August 18, 2010
As you
can see, we drove a little too far and with the car hooked up we
decided to stay the way we were, nose high!
At times, beautiful road and then other time...
Here we are at Rolland and Suzie's place.
Lots of catching up to do with my brother and his wife, Suzie.
Good times!
Thursday August 19, 2010
Went to visit my mom, she is 84. It was fun to see her again.
After
visiting my Mom, we went to visit my sister Estelle.
She said "why
not have supper here?"
So she called my other sister, brother and
Mom.
Had
a great evening talking and laughing.
Friday August 20, 2010
Easy day, cleaning and a nice fire for the evening.
A great day/evening.
Saturday August 21, 2010
My
sister Estelle told us last night that they have a guided tour of
St-Jérome with actors playing roles as they guide us. So here we are
with the family.
From left to right, Michèle, my brother Rolland
and his wife Suzie, myself and my two sisters, Christianne and Estelle.
The tour starts with this actor.
WOW!
Even if we know the history of St-Jérome, this was great, the
actors/guide told us many things we did not know about St-Jérome.
On top of that, it was free
Note: For the next few
weeks I will do very few updates as it will mostly pertain to my family
and Michèle's
Sunday

Another very good
meal at my brother's place with his family.
Monday July 23, 2010
Our son Benoit arriving in Montréal.
He is moving from Alberta to Montréal, QC.
Friday
July

Rolland giving me a "crash" course on preventive maintenance for the
diesel engine of the motorhome.
Thank you Rolland, I have learned a lot.
Christianne invited us for supper.
She has a small place so she asked
Marc, her son, to do it at his place.
Another very good meal (we are
putting on the pounds!).
A very good evening, we laughed and
talked about everything and nothing. Marc, Maryse, Gilles, young
Gabriel and Anik.
Of course Mom and Benoit were with us, a great
evening!
Saturday July 28, 2010
Can't be in Prévost and not cross the street and visit the "Marché au
Puces..." Flea Market.
Today we are going to my other sister, Estelle. Again, we are
laughing
and talking with Estelle and Robert' family.
Marilyne,
Charles, Simon, Guillaume. Mom and Benoit were with
us. Another very good evening !
Ah, on our way to Estelle's place, we saw this clown. Boy did we
laugh!
Sunday July 29, 2010
A quiet evening around the fire. Benoit and I, having red wine
and
talking about "stuff"...
So good to be with family.
Tuesday July 31, 2010
Moving day for Benoit, he is moving to a friend's condo in downtown
Montréal.
Well!
Not easy for a driver from Cold Lake, Alberta to drive in Montréal, in
the
evening, with construction and traffic!
We went around the condo
4 times before I found the parking lot!
