Saturday December 1, 2012

Today we washed the motorhome.

And then we were off to Cape San Blas for a walk on the beach.

A short walk of about 4 km, bare footed and in the water.

Hum! Who was that?

In some areas, the water returning to the bay from the beach, created a large swirl and it went deep.  Here is one, I was standing in.

I spoiled myself again with more shrimps.

So pretty!

A mullet jumped out of the water to catch insects.

We moved again this morning.  This time we were traveling further then the last time!

Sunday December 2, 2012

And we were off to our next home, Yellow Jacket RV park.  This campground is located just south of the small town of Old Town.

This morning, as we were driving out of our campground, this pelican did not want to move out of the way.  When he did, he gave us the "look".

The Florida Panhandle is covered with trees.  One of the many small town we drove through".
I really like streets where the trees cover the road.

We drove by the shore for about an hour and then turned north.

These are the last beaches, we will see until we hit the Tampa area.

We loved the name of this campground!

As I have mentioned before, amazing what you see by the road sometimes.  He must really love baseball!

A short detour to the north to revisit Wakulla Spring and do the tour boat.
We were here in November 2010.

So far most of the tour boats have been converted to battery/solar power. Super!
Our guide was very competent with a touch of humor.

Manatees.

The water from the spring were not as clear as in 2010.  Pollution is starting to catch up and at time it is almost black!

A sleeping manatee.  He has to come back for air every 15 minutes when asleep.

More alligators than the last time we were here.  Big and small ones.

A wood duck, very handsome male.

Can you see the Florida softshell turtle?

Many other turtles sunning themselves, even a bird.  The guide calls this log the "Shell Station".

A blue heron.

After our cruise on the Wakulla Spring river, we had lunch before we hit the road again.

This is one beast trying to take on the motorhome!

We got to Yellow Jacket RV park at 4:40 pm, just before closing time.

We even got to chose our site, hoping to get satellite reception.  Once we were setup, we headed to the heated pool and the hot tub.
We forgot to take some photos.

Monday December 3, 2012

Our plans for the day were?
Other than a walk in the RV park, reading and pool/jacuzzi, nothing!
Our site, more photos coming.

We were on the Suwannee river.  Here is a view from the club house.

After our long, OK short walk, pool time!

On the left, the pool and on the right, the hot tub.

Clouds were coming and surprise!  Some rain for a few minutes.

A day like we loved them.  We are here for four nights, but maybe more.

Tuesday December 4, 2012

After breakfast, I went for a walk in the RV park.
This RV park is right on the river Suwannee.

The view from the club house.

Once I was back at the motorhome, I worked some more on our next web page.

We were off to the next town, Chiefland, for lunch and some shopping for groceries.
We ate there, OK, but no more then that.

Me and Santa!

Once we were back home, we spent the rest of the afternoon at the pool.

Wednesday, Thursday December 5 and 6, 2012

We sure did a lot of relaxing lately.
Wednesday today and we spent a lot of time at the pool and even went for a walk in the RV park.
Here are some of the pontoons for rent.

Thursday was about the same as yesterday.
But, it was also Michèle's birthday.
Her birthday cake.

And the traditional Tequila shooter.

It was hard to spend some time outside the motorhome because the no-see-em were always there and as soon as the sun went down, it was worse.

Friday December 7, 2012

What was on today's agenda?
Same as yesterday!
I started the day with a nice walk through the RV park.
In the photo on the left, the entrance of the RV park and on the right photo, some of the cottages for rent.
The roads are white because of the white sand that is everywhere here.

Another view of the RV park.  On the right photo, the community hall viewed from the river.

If you remembered, all our plans are written on sand.  Well, today it got windy and plans were quickly changed.
Laurrie and Ben, our neighbor which are also from Ontario, had some electrical problems.  No 12 volts power anywhere.  I was giving them a hand a large part of the afternoon.
We found the problem and did a short-term fix.  Ben purchased the broken part for $10 and will fix it tomorrow.

We have to tell you, this park had the cleanest laundry room we ever seen in an RV park.
It was time to do some laundry.

Bad luck for us, the filtration system of the RV park went on the fritz, the bleach level went way up and some of our clothes were ruined.
Hey!  It happens!

Saturday December 8, 2012

Moving day.
Notice the cloud behind the motorhome?  We waited until we were on pavement before hooking up the car.

This photo is only to show you that we had fog when we started our travel.

Look at this road, this is not even the interstate, just a secondary road with hardly any trucks.

Ah! What we see sometimes!

This was a very narrow road for the motorhome, but we made it to the campground.

Our new home for the next week.

Very nice sites.

Once we were settle in, we decided to go to Wallimart for some needed stuff.  The GPS sent us to the "old" Walmart, and it was closed.  Tried to find the new one, the GPS is of no use.  We did find the big flea market.  We will come back tomorrow for a visit.  As we did a U-turn to come back home.  We saw the "new" Walmart.

Back home, we took a nice long walk in the RV park.
I really love those modified golf carts.

This RV park was called Turtle RV Park before it was bought by Carefree.
Now you really have to be careful, signs warned us about the alligators and the venomous snakes!!!

Tonight was our beginning of the 2012/2013 bingo season.

And we only contributed to the RV park camper's fund.

Sunday December 9, 2012

This morning we were off to the local flea market and we forgot to take any photos!!!
We really liked this flea market, it was filled with used stuff, not new.  After the flea market, we checked out the local thrift stores.

Here is our site.

Can you see the water fountain?

And what we see when sitting outside.

The community hall.

Really nice campground, lots of permanent residents.  There was still a lot of empty sites.

Monday, Tuesday December 10 and 11, 2012

Monday turned out to be mostly a rainy day.  Michèle went back to town for some more shopping.  I stayed home and did some more work on the web page.

One of the camper had two bicycles for sale.  Michèle tried the ladies bike and liked it, so we bought it for $50.  Pretty good deal.

Tuesday was pretty close to Monday as far as weather went.
Michèle cleaned up her old bike and put it by the road with a "For Sale" sign.
10 minutes later it was sold for $15.
We forgot to take photos today.

Wednesday December 12, 2012

This morning I went for a walk around the RV park.
Can you see the turtle sunning itself?

In the afternoon, we took a drive around the neighborhood and checked things out.
A handsome rooster.  Why would someone have a rooster statue in is yard?

Kind of neat to have those two trees with signs on them.  They were in the middle of nowhere!

Another laid-back day.

Thursday December 13, 2012

This RV park had an 18 holes golf course.  They called it "Road Golf" and it goes around the park.
See the little orange flag?  This is one of the hole.  What a great idea!

The weather was uncertain so we were off the movies.
Another statue by the road.

We saw the new James Bond movie, Skyfall.  We really enjoyed it.

Once back home, we spent the rest of the day reading and watching TV.

Friday December 14, 2012

We really enjoyed the flea market last Sunday and today it was open again.  We went to check it out again, but the weather is on the cold side for them (+15 C) so there were very few vendors.

In this county, you can sell firearms, hand guns and ammo right in the flea market!  We even saw a machine gun for sale.  No waiting period required when you buy a gun.  You just pay and you leave with it!
Americans and their guns!  They wonder what happened when a shooting in a school or in a shopping center happen!
OK, enough about that...

Back at the motorhome, we spent the day inside, with some heat!!!

Saturday December 15, 2012

We left Homosassa Spring behind us today.  As we were driving down the road, surprise, the wipers do not work!  Surprise #2, the heater fan do not work either!  I checked a few things and decided to carry on since everything else was working.

Ah, the things you see by the road.
Dinosaurs!

Pirate ship to a robot waving the flag.

And accidents.

About 5 kilometers from our destination, we got stuck in construction zone.
We traveled 2 kilometers in 20 minutes!

Finally, our new home for the next month.
We even got the same site (#43) we had in January 2011.

Our view through the windshield.

More photos of our site in the next few days.

Until next time.

Life is good...
