Our friends Jannie and Jan arrived yesterday in Yuma. They are at
a different RV Park.
We invited them for diner tonight. We are cooking a turkey in an
electric roaster we borrowed from our neighbor.
We are very happy the way the roaster cooked the turkey.
I am de-boning the turkey and placing the meat in the crock pot to keep
it warm until diner.
Diner with our friends Jannie and Jan. We sure did a lot of
talking and laughing.
We had a great time with our friends.
This was a good start for 2017...
Monday January 2, 2017
I called our next RV Park in Quartzsite to ask them if it would be
possible to shift our reservation from January the 5th to the
9th. They moved our reservation, no problems. We are
changing the dates because Michele has some more appointments with the
dentist.
I spent the morning working on preparing 2017 the web pages.
We are invited to a birthday party this afternoon. This is Red's
birthday party. We met Red and his wife the last time we were
camped here. They are really nice people.
There are a lots of people for the birthday party.
We had some good food, good drinks and lot of laughters.
Red is a little shy...
When we came back home, we got ready for the traditional tequila
shooters to celebrate our son's birthday.
Michele is trying to get the best angle for the photos...
It turns out the best angle is this one
Ready!
Lick the salt...
Drink the tequila...
Bite into the lemon...
WOW! We only had to drink 5 shooters to get the right photos...
Happy
Birthday
Benoit !
Our favorite youngest one...
Tuesday January 3, 2017
Not much about today other then we made a trip to the pool/hot tub.
It was a relaxing day.
Wednesday January 4, 2017
Michele was out shopping the local thrift shops and I did a lot of
reading.
The weather is warming up some.
Michele has a little toothache!!!
Thursday January 5, 2017
It is time to get some exercise, we are biking along one of the many
irrigation canals on the west side of town.
We are looking for some geocaches.
One cache is way up from the bike path...
It is not always easy looking for caches...
The champions!
It was a small geocaching "harvest" with only 6 caches, but we had fun
on the
bikes.
Friday January 6, 2017
We are back in Mexico for 9 am for Michele's fitting of the crowns.
Michele has a lot of pain in one of her tooth.
They found a spot for her at 11 am for a root canal. All went
well and the dentist told us that it was a complicated root canal
because of the way the roots were placed.
We are inline for the US custom by 3 pm.
What a day!
OK! Time to clarify some of the things that happened to Michele.
The first root canal was done on a tooth that was never worked on by
Mexican dentist. The tooth had an old filling from way back.
The Mexican dentist warned us that sometimes the infection can travel
to
the next tooth. It can take up to 5 days before any pain comes.
That is what happened to Michele. It is just plain bad luck...
Not nice for Michele, but it happens.
Saturday January 7, 2017
We are leaving Friendly Acres and moving to the casino closer to the
Mexican border for two nights.
We are ready to move...
On December 28, I closed the car door on my right thumb.
Today, I did the same thing, but on my left hand thumb with the MH
door!!!
Darn it hurts!!!
I even bent the door frame...
Just look at my face! I am not a happy camper...
I cannot remember the last time I pinched one of my fingers in
anything!!! I am not proud of myself at all...
We are finally at the casino.
It is just a parking lot, but it is free.
We are back in Mexico for Michele's appointment at 2 pm.
This appointment is just for the fitting of the crowns for
Michele. Surprise! When they did the last root canal, they
also did the fitting of the two crowns. This appointment is to
place the two crowns for good. We are very happy to not have to
come back to the dentist anymore. Michele still has some pain in
the area where they did all the work. We will see.
A nice sunset.
Even if we are done with the dental appointment, we are not leaving
until Monday because we are invited for diner at Jannie and Jan's place
tomorrow night.
Sunday January 8, 2017
Michele is sleeping in and I treat myself to a buffet/breakfast at the
casino. It was good!
After all that food, I went for a walk near the casino.
The casino is on Native land.
In the afternoon, we went to Jannie and Jan's place for diner.
Once again, we sure did a lot of talking with more laughter.
After an excellent meal and more socializing, it was time to head back
home.
We had to take a group photo, the serious one and the not so serious
one...
WOW! What a week at the dentist for Michele...
Monday January 9, 2015
Michele woke up with a big toothache, again!
We headed back to Mexico and see the dentist.
We explained what was going on with Michele and my voice started to
raise a little in the waiting room...
Amazing how fast the service changed, this time Michele was the first
in.
It turns out to be her crowns were too "high". All they had
to do was some adjustment to both crowns.
They prescribed some anti-inflammatory for her tooth/gum.
We were in and out of the dentist in 15 minutes...
We decided to leave for Quartzsite anyway.
We are leaving the casino behind us...
We have to drive on Interstate 8 for about 20 miles before we take
US-95
North towards Quartzsite.
Just like in Canada, there is a lot of road construction.
Harvesting is still going on in the fields.
This is US 95 North.
We are driving by the "bridge to nowhere".
We even had some light rain for about 15 minutes.
This airship is usually up in the sky, it is used to detect illegal
aliens and drug runners.
Here we go again, a checkpoint.
Quartzsite, here we are!
Once we were installed in our site, we went to the Park Bingo.
At every RV Park, bingo is a little different...
We are not sure if there are any rules here, but we had a lot of fun...
Michele won the big pot at the end. About $8.00.
Tuesday January 10, 2017
A little look at our site and the RV Park.
The entrance in front of the MH.
The US 95 North and South.
We did not do much today other than wash the car.
And spend some time in a good book
A good day in Quartzsite.
Wednesday January 11, 2017
We spent a few hours in one of the many flea markets in
Quartzsite. This one is called Tyson Wells. It is in its
39th season.
You can get just about anything in Quartzsite.
This store is selling grocery goods a little past the "best before
date...".
If you have to have it, bones and skulls are here!
Over the next few weeks, we will be going to all the flea markets and
the
small re-seller here in Quartzsite.
Thursday January 12, 2017
No flea market today, but more geocaching.
Michele has found a nice series of cache not to far and in the desert.
On our drive to the first cache, we saw this in someone's front yard...
We are in the middle on the desert...
Not! We are about one kilometer from the Interstate 8 and the town of
Quartzsite. It is still the desert...
What am I doing? I am looking at my shoes...
One of those plant with long spikes.
Tonight we are playing at Bunko. It is an easy game, but is
crazy. We really liked to play this game...
A good day.
Friday January 13, 2017
Michele and I did the tour of the two thrift shops in Quartzsite this
morning.
In the afternoon, at the RV Park they have a trivia game about
superstitions, today being Friday the 13th...
I went by myself and it was fun.
Behind the MH there is a small wash (canal) going by. Right now
it is empty because it has not rained in a while.
People in the RV Park tells us that when it rains, the wash fills up
with up with a foot of water.
As soon as it gets dark, the lights in the wash come on and illuminate
the wash
with a nice blue light.
The curve in the photo is not normal, the small program I use to join
two photos together makes it curvy...
After a little talk, we decide to go and continue the series of caches
we started Thursday.
Saturday January 14, 2017
We are at the other end of the series of caches. We are doing
this part on our bicycles.
The scenery is so beautiful...
This winter, the plants in the desert are very green. The
American south-west has received more precipitation than usual this
winter.
In some place the ride was not fun because of the big rocks on the road.
We have found 21 caches and we did not find 4 of them, a good day
caching.
On our way back, we drove by Tyson Wells flea market and made a
necessary stop for a Date Shake.... Boy it is good!
What a good day.
Sunday January 15, 2017
Like I mentioned before, Quartzsite is one huge flea market in the
winter months.
One more store sells items that are just at or passed the "best before
date".
Here is one example, a box of 12 keurig McCafé for only $3 with the
best before date of about a month ago...
It is currently the Rock and Gem show in Quartzsite. Here, you
can see some
geode and some of them are worth about $1200.00.
Some more geode for only $1500.00 to $1600.00.
This table for only $4000.00.
They even have hangar with more rocks and gems for sale.
What a good idea to have small figurines inside a geode...
Here is a smaller geode with a scene inside. It almost
look real!
Michele with a tyrex!
While Michele was doing more shopping, she sent me to the adult day
care...
After that, we went home for some relax time with a good book.
With all the rain they have been getting around here in the past few
months, the soil is still soft in some area.
The black hole to the left of my feet is about a foot deep and it came
from the leveling jacks form the MH.
Michele's teeth are fine now. She is very happy...
