7 am and we are on our way to Odette to pick up boxes. This is
very early for us!
Again, some photos in black and white and some in colour.
After the car is loaded up and Odette with us, we head toward
Scarborough to pick up my passport. Once in the building to pick
up the passport, I wait one minute and we are out of there with
passport in hand.
Once at Odette place, second balcony, the car is emptied in no time and
we are opening boxes and filling the book case. A very good half
day of moving.
After all the hard work in a + 28 C environment, we treat ourselves
with a good Chinese buffet at the Mandarin. As usual my GPS tells
me it is located on the right hand side of the road, but it is a
school. We turn around and the Mandarin is located on he right
hand side of the road! Aren't GPS great? Very good food at the
Mandarin.
Back in Belleville, we stop at the mall so Michèle can look for new
glasses. She had help from two great helpers. She found a
nice pair of glasses and she will have them next week.
Friday, Saturday August 17 and 18, 2012
Friday and we are not going anywhere.
I do some laundry in the morning and we spend the afternoon reading or
on the net.
Saturday, we have a dart tournament in the park. We decide to
participate, the tournament starts at 1 pm.
Some photos of the tournament.
My team finished last, but Michèle teams finish first.
The trophy they won, it will be on display at the club house with the
winning team player names for 2012.
Like most campgrounds, the people here are very nice and the tournament
was very relaxed, no pressure to perform.
We had a great afternoon.
Sunday August 19, 2012
The campground has a "Show & Shine" today. This is the second
year they have it. Last year they had 15 cars, this year they
have more than 25 cars. The owners are very pleased.
Here are the one I like best.
I use a small program called "autostitch" to join 4 photos
together. This is the result.
Michèle spent the day with Odette and did more boxes for Fridays
move.
Monday, Tuesday, August 20 and 21, 2012
Me and Onyx are on our way to East York with the car full of boxes.
During that time, Michèle and Odette are stripping and old chest of
drawers.
The top is done, but not the side. What a difference!
Me and Onyx are back from East York (Toronto) in early afternoon.
The girls hard at work stripping a night table.
On Tuesday we are back at Odette place and are doing more boxes.
Wednesday, Thursday August 22 and 23, 2012
On Wednesday, Michèle had another appointment with the eye
doctor. This time, it was for a specific test about the small
bleeding in her eye. It turns out to be minor bleeding, according
to the eye doctor, it maybe it
is a normal situation for Michèle. Michèle had her doctor's
appointment a few days ago and she does not have high blood pressure,
she is not diabetic and all the results show nothing that could trigger
this bleeding. She will come back on October 15th to have it
checked out again. More to follow, but do not worry.
The rest of the day was spent at Odette place packing more boxes and
getting ready for Friday move.
Thursday is my turn to go see the doctor. This time only to get
treatment for my plantar wart. Again, the rest of the day was
spent doing boxes at Odette. It is very hot inside Odette
apartment, +30 and very little air movement.
Back at out site, we took a few beers outside and in the shade.
We
had fun feeding the little chipmunk.
He is one very fast little bugger!
Tomorrow is the big move. Change of plans, we start the move in
the morning vice the late afternoon. Alix has a course Friday
evening and the whole weekend so either way he will not be available
to help, may as well start earlier so we can finish earlier.
Friday August 25, 2012
Here we are on our way to pick up the U-Haul trailer. To get
there
we have to cross a swing bridge that allows sail boats entry and exit
on
the bay of Quite. We are waiting for a sail boat to go by.
As we are waiting for the trailer, we checked out the rivers edge in
Belleville. Can you see the heron?
In less that two hours the trailer and both cars are fully
loaded.
Surprise, we have more boxes and other stuff to move in the
apartment. We will need to make a second trip with the trailer
later on next week.
My car, a 2009 Pontiac G5, works very hard to pull that trailer.
Once
at the new apartment, in one hour and half the trailer and the cars are
empty.
We are just about to start to unload. It was very hot at
that location, +32C, but we had an elevator to get to the 3rd
floor. Thank God for that.
Once the unloading was done, we took a well-deserved break before we
are heading back to our campsite.
We leave Odette and Onyx at the apartment emptying boxes. A nice
sunset on
our way back home.
It was a very hard to move, with the temperature this high and
combine with the humidity, not fun!
Regardless of a few surprises, the day still went very well.
Saturday, Sunday August 25 and 26, 2012
Saturday we spend the day doing nothing but relaxing. With a nice
+28, we went to the pool and read a lot.
Sunday we are back at Odette place to help with the cleaning. We
can see all the stuff that is left to move.
We took a break from cleaning and went for lunch at a new Chinese
restaurant in Belleville. The Hibachi and it has very good food.
After lunch we continue with the cleaning.
A lot was accomplished today. They're still a few things left to
be cleaned, it will be done tomorrow.
Monday August 27, 2012
First thing I do this morning to reserve another U-Haul trailer for
Wednesday. Back at the motorhome, I do laundry. Today look
like a rainy day. Michèle is gone to Odette place to help and get
her new glasses.
This is our dinner, a de-constructed shepherd's pie, got to have
ketchup with that!
The afternoon is spent at the pool with a good book.
In the evening, we have a change of plan. Tomorrow, we will pick
up the trailer earlier because we have to move some furniture first and
then the stuff that goes in East York.
Tuesday August 28, 2012
After picking up the trailer, we drove by the 8 Wing Trenton runway and
a CC130 Hercules landing.
Michèle "Self-Portrait"!
Highway 2 cuts across the base. They are tearing down an old hangar.
When you are working hard, you forget to take photos. Once at
Odette place, we do a first trip with furniture at
Saint-Vincent-De-Paul. They are supposed to take everything, but
once there they are lots of stuff they do not take. Off to the
dump! Back at Odette, we start loading boxes and loose stuff.
The apartment is empty and clean by five o'clock. The trailer is
full and so are the cars. Onyx and Odette are staying with us
tonight. Before dinner, we head to the pool for a nice cool
down. Spaghetti for dinner and we watch TV until about elevenish.
Tomorrow is the last part of the move for us. Emptying the
trailer and cars.
Wednesday August 29, 2012
This is the last day for Odette's move.
After a good night sleep, we are up at 7:30 am and on the road by 9 am.
The drive to Toronto is uneventful.
Alix is waiting for us, everything is out of the trailer and up to the
apartment in less than one hour.
Once everything is done, we head home. No room for us to help
them as the apartment is very small. We left the trailer at a
local U-Haul and have lunch at A&W. We are back on the road by one
pm.
Michèle doing a self-portrait.
Our neighbor, Barbara and Jim, invited us for a cocktail for this
afternoon. We had a great time, good conversation with good
people. We will see them again next time we are back here.
We are very happy for Odette and Onyx. They are done with their
move and all they have to do is unpack.
Thursday August 30, 2012
Today is an easy day. Did some wash in the morning and some
packing for our trip tomorrow. We are going to Berthierville
tomorrow.
Late afternoon, I got an appointment with the nurse for my 3rd
plantar wart treatment. This time, it did hurt after the freezing.
We received a text message from Gabriel telling us how much he misses
us! Our answer is to go on Skype.
What a pleasure to see Jérémy, Daniel and Gabriel. They look very good
and Gabriel is growing pretty fast.
We really miss them!
Friday August 31, 2012
The only thing left to pay before we leave, is the electricity, once it
is done we hit the road.
Cute bike!
We are not in a rush to get to Patrice and Manon's place so we took a
little detour and drove the Thousand Island Parkway.
Québec, here we come!
I love to see a sign like this one on our roads. We do have to
remember our veterans.
Saint Joseph's Oratory of Montréal.
Getting across Montréal is not fun in the beast of time.
This is not rush hour yet, our max speed was a high 60Km/h.
The photo below is of Toronto, compare to Montréal it is a lot easier
to drive across when it is not rush hour. I do not know how
people from Montréal tolerate a highway system like this, and it will
not get better for the next 20 years!
Once out of Montréal thing move pretty good, what is that?
Once in Berthierville we head toward St-Ignace-De-Loyola. This is
where Patrice and Manon live.
It is always fun to go visit Patrice and Manon. So much fun we
forgot to take photos.
Until next time.
Life is good...
