Tuesday October 16, 2012

Michèle had her last appointment this morning.  All went well, no problems.

Our goal for today was to visit the "National Air Force Museum of Canada".  Bad timing, it was closed.
So we stopped for a coffee and then headed home.
As you can see in this photo, the lake is very low right now.  About one meter below the normal.

We had another good meal together.  Daniel and Sylvie will be leaving tomorrow morning and we are staying an extra day.

Wednesday October 17, 2012

Our homes, on the forefront, us and to the right is Daniel and Sylvie's home.

Time to go home for our friends.  Goodbye Sylvie and Daniel, your pretty dog, Solo and Charlie the cat (missing form the photo).

Heading home.
Drive safe!

Part of Whellers bay.

We really enjoyed our time with Daniel and Sylvie.
We should meet them again this winter in Florida.

Thursday October 18, 2012

This year there is quite a few more swans on the bay.

Today is our turn to move and we are on our way!

Highway 401 west direction Toronto.

We will be at Glen Rouge campground for a few days.  It is almost in the heart of Toronto.

Very nice campground, a few months back when we came here for a visit, it was pretty quiet.  We could hardly hear highway 401.  Maybe because the leaves are down, but we sure can hear the 401 now.  The positive side is that we are closer to Odette's place.

The view from our front window.

After the setup, we head into the sunset to Odette's place.

We forgot to take photos again!

Friday October 19, 2012

We are back visiting Odette, but Alix and Onyx are both working.  We are having lunch at the Chinese Buffet.

Sisters!

See you in the spring Odette, Onyx and Alix.

Saturday October 20, 2012

On our way to our campground in Sherkston, close to Fort Erie.
The first part of Toronto goes pretty well.

And then we hit construction.  We go from four lanes to one lane.  On top of that, highway 400 comes in with its own 4 lanes.

This is not an accident, but a truck driver tired of seeing people driving on the shoulder, he took action to fix that!

45 minutes later we are out of the traffic jam and make good time toward the Niagara region.

Niagara region information center, we also had lunch at the same time.

The Welland canal.

All kinds of pumpkins!

They must of had a lot of rain in the past week.

Even with the 45 minutes lost in the traffic jam, the roads were pretty good.  For a Saturday, it was impressive to see so many cars on the roads.

Setting up took place in the rain, not fun at all.

Sunday October 21, 2012

Sunny skies, but cool and windy.
Off we go to do some groceries.  Why not go to the movie at the same time?

Falls pretty colours.

We saw the movie Alex Cross.  Both of us are fans of writer James Patterson.  He has written many books with Alex Cross as the "good guy".

Good movie, but at first we had a hard time seeing Tyler Perry as Alex Cross.  We remembered Morgan Freeman as Alex Cross from a previous movie.  Once we got over that, Tyler Perry did a good job.

Here is our "neighborhood".

Coming up to our site.

A nice and relaxed day.  We caught up with all the shows we had recorded in the past week.

Monday October 22, 2012

Not much on our plate today.

Got to wash the car after being pulled behind the motorhome.
The small lake (quarry) on the campground.

The photo don't come close to the real colours and feel of fall.

We found a car wash in the little town next to the campground.  Sure made a difference.

The campground is also located on Lake Erie.

After we got back home, with the temperature in the low +20s C in the shade with little wind, we had a nice fire.

By the way, this campground has special prices for fall camping.  $164.00 for seven nights, you get 50 amp. electricity, water, sewer, paved pull through site and a concrete patio, not bad at all.  A very nice campground.  We were here in the fall of 2010.

Tuesday October 23, 2012

The rain is back, we even had a thunder storm last night.  This morning we did a little laundry.

On a rainy day what do you do in a motorhome?  Either shop, surf the net or watch a TV series.
Michèle watch a TV series and me, I surf the net and prepare on this web page.

Wednesday, Thursday October 24 and 25, 2012

Wednesday and it still rains.  Reading, TV and internet all day.

What a surprise, Thursday is a warm and sunny day at +25 C, wow!
We must do something today because comes Friday, we will be back to rain in the late afternoon.

Off to the Falls we go.
We take the Niagara Parkway to go to the falls.  A very nice road following the Niagara river.  Lots of beautiful houses and very nice scenery.

Here we come!

Some photos of our afternoon at the Falls.

The Niagara region was the scene of violent combats between the US and Canada.  Here on Lundy's Lane, Laura Secord walked 20 miles to warn the British troops that the American troops were coming and saved the day.   All this in 1812.

The little lake at the campground.  It was a quarry at one time.

It is still warm outside, we have a nice fire as we look at the sunset.

Friday October 26, 2012

Weather forecast is for a nice, warm sunny day until early afternoon, and then rain (again).

Back in Niagara Falls to have a brunch at Al Macs Buffet for only $6.99, WOW!

Mac Donald would have been better.
Let me explain, buffet $6.99 each, coffee $2.99 for each of us, one small orange juice $3.99 plus taxes, it came to $27.00.  Not even a glass of water on the table, you have to buy a bottle of water for $2.99.
On top of that, the cashier has the nerve to tell me to put $5.00 for tip!  Needless to say we will never be back again at this restaurant.  If you ever come to Niagara Falls and want to eat in a restaurant and the price looks to good to be true, it probably is.
This is only our humble opinion.

Nice decoration on our way home.

We went back out to Port Colborne to get some beer.  You can see a ship going through the Welland Canal.

A nice day after all, the rain came in the early evening and should stay with us for a while.  Also, hurricane Sandy should be here on Monday with more rain.

Saturday October 27, 2012

Did some more laundry as the laundry room in the campground will be closing tomorrow.
For a change, we spent the day reading, TV and some internet.

It sure rained hard today.  This is not even Sandy yet!
The round water puddle on the grass is the fire pit...

Sunday October 28, 2012

This is a "Copy and Paste" day from yesterday.
Rain, reading, TV and internet.
Even if we were in the US, we would have been in the rain anyway.  Why not stay here until November 3rd.

Monday October 29, 2012

Hurricane Sandy should hit us later on today.  The forecast is for strong winds up to 100k/hr and lots of rain, for a change!

After two days inside the motorhome, we had to go out and change scenery.  Off to the mall in Welland.

Not many photos on a day like today!

The wind picked up a lot in the evening, some gusts were in the 100 k/hr range.  The way the motorhome is in relation to the wind is very good.  Hardly feel the wind, but we lost electricity for a whole minute.

Tuesday October 30, 2012

Last night was uneventful as far as the weather goes.
Today, rainy  and windy.
I really think we passed (again) the waterproof test for the motorhome.

Guess what?  Reading, TV and internet again for today!  We also Skyped with Jérémy, Danielle and Gabriel.

Our plan is to leave for the States on Saturday November 3 and be in the Tampa area for Christmas.

Until next time.

Life is good...
