Tuesday, January 16, 2024.

We treat ourselves to a Chinese lunch at Lin's. It was good.

The things we see on the roads!

Wednesday and Thursday, January 17 and 18, 2024.

Another two days at home, relaxing.
But for Jeremy, Kristin and Natasha, Thursday was a snow day.
They built a snowman on the neighbour's steps.

The neighbour was quite surprised.

Natasha loves the snow.

Friday, January 19, 2024.

Gaétan, Éric and I are at the Southwest Forgotten Iron near the town of Wellton.
It is all about engines from the late 1800s to early 1900s.
It is on today and tomorrow.

Here is an example of an engine and a water pump.

This engine runs a compressor, which in turn runs a pneumatic motor that runs a metal saw.

We all think this engine is the most beautiful and impressive of the show.

More examples of old machinery.

We saw many smaller engines.

They also have a tractor pull event at the site. It is only for older tractors.

We did enjoy our time at this show.

On our way back, we had lunch at Thee Mr. Fish. It was good.

We went to the Friday night dance and practiced line dancing.

Saturday, January 20, 2024.

Once a month, the Park offers coffee and donuts on a Saturday Morning.

A group of friends and us went to the Naked Dates Farm to see a show with Kelly Hughes.
But first, on our way to the farm, the last two miles of road is hard-packed sand.
When we arrived at the last curve before the farm, we followed the road sign, and the hard-packed sand turned into soft sand.
Our friend we were following had a truck and had to go into four-wheel drive so he would not get stuck.
We were four adults in our little car, needless to say, we soon got stuck.
Everybody got out of the car to push me back on the hard sand. That is when we noticed a fork in the road to bypass the soft sand.
We sure had a good laugh about the whole thing.

We are now at the farm. It is a farm, microbrewery, restaurant and store for dates.
The Kelly Hughes show is free, but you can not bring any liquid on-site.

There are around 425 persons on the site.
Kelly Hughes is doing his show in front of the bus you see in the distance.

The site does not have a stage. Behind the bus is the entrance for the yurt and date trees

Kelly gave a good show.

He sang with this little girl.

My pretty Michele.

This is the whole group.

It was a good show, and we had a good time.

On our way back, we did not follow our friends...

Sunday, January 21, 2024.

Brr. It is on the cool side this morning, 18° inside and 16° outside.

It rained all morning and part of the afternoon.

Michele was out shopping  with Judith all day.
Me? I was with Gaétan and Michelle talking about our trip along the West Coast of the U.S. They will take the same trip this spring.

Monday, January 22, 2024

It is not a warm day here in Yuma. I know people will say +14°C outside is nice, but not here...
All this to say, it is cold outdoors.

And it is raining!

Our weather is still better than Comox
Jeremy is looking for other lakes for fishing.

Tuesday, January 23, 2024.

A few days ago, Kristin started to paint a wall in Natasha's room.

This is one little girl wanting a piece of sugar fudge.

Jeremy is inspecting our trailer for water leaks while in storage.

A big storm is happening on the north side of the town.
The clouds are pretty nasty-looking,

We only had a few drops of rain in our area, but north of us, it came down pretty hard.
Here are some photos of the people north of us. The river was a dry wash a few hours back.

Wednesday, January 24, 2024.

The wall in Natasha's room is completed. It is pretty nice.

Michele got a haircut today.

We are invited to Darlene and Terry's place for Terry's birthday.
Lots of people we do not know.

And a lot of people we do know.

For some unknown reason, Darlene has a fancy pair of boots. One of her friends decided to wear them and dance...
We sure had a good laugh.

It was a good evening with a lot of laughter.

Thank you, Darlene, to have invited us.

Thursday, January 25, 2024.

Today, we are going to Quartzsite for the big RV show.
Eric is coming with us. We will drop off a parcel at Jannie and Jan's place in the desert.

I love the scenery.

Yes, the man selling metal animals is still here.

So is the bar.

We did not buy anything.

Friday, January 26, 2024.

I finally bought the workbench I wanted for the shed.

We need to assemble it, Michele gives me a hand every now and then.

First, I have to move the shelf a little higher.

It is not very complicated to assemble.

The new look for the shed with the workbench.

We are at the Howling at the Moon this evening.
This time around, we are very close to the band.

The band is very good and people are dancing.

We had tons of fun!

The mascot is the wolf.

This sunset photo is from us.

The same evening, someone else took the photos.

As the moon rose over the mountains, we howled.

The band plays another 30 minutes after the moon rises. We went back to Gaétan and Dennis' camper for a good campfire.

This was another busy day.

Saturday, January 27, 2024.

We keep on with music. The Krazy Kanucks band is playing on the patio in the campground.
The lady singing is Judy. She is from our campground.

About 100 people are attending the show.

My pretty Michele.

Sunday, January 28, 2024.

Today was a laid-back day. It was good.

Monday, January 29, 2024

It was another quiet day for us, but the Matte Family from Comox was busy.
They went for a hike at the "Hole In The Wall".

After the hard work comes a treat.

Tuesday, January 30, 2024.

Jeremy will be deployed soon. He has to go through the gas chamber training to qualify.
His beard had to go for the mask.
Who does he look like? (Michele's brother, Patrice!)

Here he is a few minutes before going into the gas chamber.

Today, we are placing the PVC pipes in the ground. They will hold the metal tubes for the windbreaker walls we will install later.
Gaétan is helping me since he has done this job many times before. But first, an important phone call from family.

The ground is very hard when it is dry.
We use water pressure to dig the 2 foot long PVC pipe into the ground.

This is one all the way in.

As the ground dries, it will hold the PVC pipe in place like cement.

Wednesday, January 31, 2024.

The next step is to build the pipe structure. The mesh tarp will be strung to the pipes.

I did find some bungee to install one of the mesh tarps.

Until next time.

Life is good...
